The goal
One goal for the whole account: purchases at a controlled cost, in several markets and languages at the same time. The brand is confidential, so campaign names and account details are masked in every screenshot.
What I did
- Cold vs. retargeting structure with campaign budget optimization (CBO). New audiences and people who already visited the site are kept in separate campaigns, so each one gets its own budget and its own message, and retargeting never eats the prospecting budget.
- Broad targeting, existing customers excluded. Instead of narrow interests, the ad sets go broad and let Meta's algorithm find buyers, while people who already bought are excluded so the budget goes to new customers.
- Ad sets split by market and language. Each market is read on its own numbers, which is how the French ad set covering 4 countries stood out with the lowest CPA of the account.
- Creative testing at volume: 86+ ads tested inside a single ad set. The ads are ranked by purchases, the winners keep the budget, and the best creative reached a €23.76 CPA.
- Monthly monitoring. For example, June 2026 alone represents €24,232 of spend tracked month by month.
The results
8,020 purchases tracked on €239,023 of spend, an average CPA of €29.80, and 62.2 million impressions.
The top campaign alone generated 1,258 purchases. The best ad set generated 2,824 purchases at €25.15 each. The lowest CPA of the account was €18.55, on the French ad set covering 4 countries: 38% below the account average.
What to take from it
The account average hides the winners. The work is to find the ad sets and creatives that beat it, then move the budget to them.
Splitting by market and language is what makes those differences visible. In one big mixed ad set, the €18.55 market would have been diluted in the average.

Questions about this case
What was the cost per purchase on this account?
€29.80 on average across 8,020 purchases. The best ad set reached €18.55 per purchase, 38% below the average, and the best single ad reached €23.76.
How many creatives were tested?
More than 86 ads were tested inside a single ad set, ranked by purchases. The winners kept the budget.
Can this work for a smaller budget?
The same method applies, at a smaller scale. I work with brands investing at least $1,500 per month in ads: below that, Meta does not get enough data to optimize well.
